Jog, Blog, Vlog.

Day 8. Daily Wisdom 10/2/2024

So it’s October already. I intend to make this my most focused month. New city, new routine, fewer distractions, fewer responsibilities.

I have 3 goals this month:

  1. daily jog

  2. daily blog

  3. daily vlog

Ultimately, I want to keep it simple. Get back to basics.

In the past it’s been easy to set 10+ goals for the month. But you can easily get distracted spinning that many plates at once.

This month I figured we should started at the bottom. Focus on a maximum of 3 things that, if accomplished, will positively impact everything else. Here’s why these are the 3 most important:

1) Daily Jog — aka develop a consistent exercise routine

I spent the past month moving from Minnesota to Chicago. Before that I had some basic exercise routines. I’d go to OrangeTheory once or twice a week, or I’d sit in the sauna at the gym. But after a month of not doing any exercise, I started to feel like shit. Then I went for a short run the past few days and they’ve been my happiest, most productive.

It’s honestly crazy how you can just exercise for like 30min per day and it will solve 99% of your problems. And how easy it is to forget that, or overcomplicate it, or deprioritize it. So for this month it is the most important thing. If I fail at everything else but manage to run everyday, the month is a win. Exercise is the key to unlocking long-term success.

2) Daily Blog — aka learn something every day and document my thoughts

The second most important piece for me is this, right here. Writing this blog. Because it’s a forcing function to organize my thoughts and seek out new information and document it on a page. Every single day, whether someone else will read it or not, doesn’t matter. The important part is exploring the unknown, especially in the realm of building startups.

My top priority things to learn this month are: how to design and build websites from scratch with AI (AI dev), how to sell 5-figure contracts to businesses (B2B sales), and how to organically grow an online following (Growth hacking). Because those are the 3 main ingredients to making $1M no matter the business. And if I can become an expert at any of them, then I can maximize my odds of getting there.

3) Daily Blog — create content and grow an online following

Speaking of growth hacking, the 3rd most important piece for me this month is creating 1 video every day for social media. To be honest this will probably be the most difficult one for me. Not necessarily the recording / editing itself but mainly the idea generation and time commitment. Coming up with a new video idea every single day is somewhat of a daunting task, and without a streamline process can become a 3-4 hour process every single day.

But my conviction is that short-form video is the best way in human history to arbitrage attention. Think about it — you can get any idea out to millions of people for FREE by simply knowing how to pick a compelling topic, write a catchy hook, do some editing, and stay consistent. Everyone on the planet now spends a few hours a day scrolling through TikTok/IG/Twitter/Youtube — even LinkedIn has short-form video feeds now. 30 years ago you’d have to pay $1M+ to get this type of distribution (probably a TV commercial), and now it’s free. So I am going to learn how to do it, and eventually I will get good enough to hire some people that can help me do it more effectively

Anyways, those are my big 3 goals for the month. A big part of writing this blog in public is honestly just to keep me accountable with audacious goals like this. So if you actually read any of these, keep me honest by replying / texting me. And if you want accountability in your life let me know what your goals are for the month and I’ll keep you honest right back.

Peace,

Ramsey
